Tilt-on Ghost Build

This blog is sponsored by PCBway, big thanks for their support in helping this project come to life.

Recently I’ve had the pleasure of playing Destiny 2 with a couple of friends. It’s been a great way to catch up and have some fun in the evenings. There is a character in the game called Ghost who is your hovering robot guide. This is a ghost build featuring a simple ’tilt-on’ light mechanism and custom PCB protoboards.

This project was 3D printed using these 3D models and process .

To build the electronics, you need:

  • Protoboard
  • Coin cell battery holder
  • Tilt Switch
  • LED light
  • Couple of jumper wires
  • Soldering iron

Big thanks to PCBWay for manufacturing the protoboard for this project. These protoboards are flexible and are designed for wearable technology projects and small, tight space projects like this one. The board can be cut to size easily and is designed to be easily chained with other protoboards. PCBway is a great choice for more adventurous flexible PCB designs and has a super easy to use online quote generating system. They have a sale on now where you can pick up flex boards at 15% off for Christmas. I got started designing my own boards with the free software KiCAD. You can check out some of my other circuit board designs at Elkei Education.

I soldered the parts together and cut the board to fit inside the small recess.

Really love how these turned out.
